Kyler Phillips ‘grateful’ for UFC Norfolk win, ready to show ‘full Matrix’
It was a stellar first Octagon appearance for Kyler Phillips: he had a great performance, his hand raised in victory, an extra $50,000 in his bank account for the ‘Fight of the Night’ and the list goes on.
As impressive as his performance was, Phillips believes it was just the tip of the iceberg. “The Matrix” defeated Gabriel Silva via unanimous decision this past Saturday night at UFC Norfolk, which emanated from the Chartway Arena and aired on ESPN+.
On Tuesday, Phillips joined The Scrap to discuss the big win, growing up in a big family, his teammate Sean O’Malley’s upcoming fight at UFC 248, staying grateful and appreciative of the moment, why he didn’t have Octagon jitters, how he deals with emotional swings following a fight, what surprised him in regards to his opponent on Saturday, wanting to fight two or three more times in 2020, the vibe at The MMA Lab, thoughts on Henry Cejudo vs. Jose Aldo, and more.
Check out the full interview with UFC Norfolk winner Kyler Phillips following his unanimous decision win over Gabriel Silva in the video below.
