Zach Reese’s team confident UFC 311 appeal will overturn loss
Following his loss to Azamat Bekoev at UFC 311, Zach Reese took to Instagram to reveal the damage he sustained. It seems his team have filed an appeal to overturn the loss, citing illegal strikes to the back of the head. Reese also shared images of the cuts on the back of his head.
On a post on Instagram, Reese’s coaches Richard Adam Copley stated, “Feel like this one was stolen. No strikes to the back of the head is a rule for a reason. Hope we can get the bout overturned to a NC. The start to the finish was a back of the head shot followed by 2 more.”
Shortly after that post, Copley was intervened by Ryan Jarrell of Fight Bananas where he gave an update on the appeal. He shared, “His [Zach Reese] management has already started the appeal process. I know that can take some time.I’ve had a couple appeals in the past and we’ve won every appeal we’ve ever done. I’m hopeful, I’m confident this will be the same.”
While Zach is ultimately okay, the key debate will be whether the illegal head strikes led to the KO. Or, if they occurred due to Zach’s movement while on his back, despite being intentional. Regardless, it will be interesting to see the outcome, as fight getting overturned rarely have a high success rate.
We break it all down on our YouTube channel. You can see Zach’s post-fight reaction, the photos he took, and how he’s feeling now.
