STARDOM & The Legacy of AJW
When we talk about some of the best wrestling ever seen in a pro wrestling ring, we can’t ignore AJW and all the amazing matches they had. In some ways, STARDOM is the spiritual successor of AJPW.
Will STARDOM ever match or surpass the legacy of AJW?
That’s and interesting question… And hard to answer, but STARDOM has the potential. There is no question that currently, STARDOM has the best women’s wrestling in the world. But in comparison to AJW, there’s still a long way to go…
Right now, it would be unfair to in some ways to compare STARDOM to AJW. To start, AJW had some of the best wrestlers ever at their disposal like Manami Toyota, Aja Kong, Akira Hokuto, Jaguar Yokota and many more. Nonetheless, STARDOM’s roster has a lot of talented and young wrestlers with potential to be all-time greats, like Starlight Kid for example.
STARDOM has the advantage of living in this world of information we currently live in. So getting access to their content is easy… Back in the day, the only way of watching AJW was via tape trading, and their matches didn’t have English commentary. STARDOM has the ability of working with other promotions if they want to, something AJW didn’t have back in the day due to the poor state of women’s wrestling in the U.S. and rest of the world at the time.
Right now, STARDOM is doing amazing things, and they are growing as a promotion with more people watching them. The legacy of AJW is impossible to match, and most likely it never will. But STARDOM is definitely creating its own legacy.
