AEW Tony Khan vs. ROH Tony Khan
The battle for Booker of the Year in North America feels like it’s between AEW’s Tony Khan and ROH’s Tony Khan. This may sound like a joke, but it’s the reality of the situation.
You can throw names like Paul Levesque (Triple H) to the race, but it hasn’t been long enough for him to build what we’ve seen in ROH and AEW right now. So Tony Khan is basically competing with himself for the title this year…
What’s The Difference?
Well… The biggest difference is restrictions. Tony Khan in AEW has taken into consideration things like commercials, sponsors and time restrictions. In ROH, these are some things that Tony doesn’t have to worry about, and his booking is a reflection of that. Obviously ROH has its restrictions too, like not having total access to all the stars of AEW. But we’ve seen some help from the AEW roster, like Chris Jericho as ROH World Champion, or even Bryan Danielson making a few appearances for the brand.
While we’ve only talked about the positives of ROH, AEW isn’t far behind and their latest PPV, Revolution, was a tremendous success. This shows that Khan isn’t distracted by one promotion or the other. It’s actually impressive how he manages to book two promotions on top of owning both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C.
While Tony Khan is kind of competing with himself, don’t forget that he still has strong competition worldwide with both Rossy Ogawa of STARDOM and Gedo of NJPW…
