The PFL Lightweight Tournament has suffered a major blow with the injury to Jay Jay Wilson. So, the PFL needs a plan to fill in the vacancy.
Jay Jay Wilson has been forced to withdraw from his June 20 semi-final bout. Scheduled against Gadzhi Rabadanov, the fight will not happen and Rabadanov will need a new opponet. This is due to a broken jaw. Wilson announced the news via his Instagram Story. Just weeks before what was shaping up to be a pivotal rematch.
Wilson last competed on April 18, earning a dominant third-round TKO via ground-and-pound over Mads Burnell in the opening round of the tournament. The win secured his spot in the semifinals and reignited momentum in his PFL campaign.
As a reminder, the PFL introduced a new single-elimination format for the 2025 season. So, Jay Jay Wilson is likely to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
His scheduled bout against Rabadanov was set to be a rematch of their 2022 clash. Which took place at Bellator 276. Rabadanov handed Wilson the first and only loss of his professional career, snapping a nine-fight win streak.
Since the announcemnt, the Professional Fighters League has not announced a replacement opponent for Rabadanov. With the playoffs fast approaching, the promotion will need to act quickly to keep the lightweight bracket intact.
