WWE SummerSlam 2025: Night 1 Preview & Predictions
WWE SummerSlam 2025 is shaping up to be “The Biggest Party of the Summer” and this year, it’s truly historic.
For the first time ever, SummerSlam will take place over two nights, and WWE is going all out. With Cardi B hosting the festivities, expect plenty of star power alongside high-stakes title bouts, personal rivalries, and career-defining moments.
From Gunther vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, to Tiffany Stratton defending her WWE Women’s Title against Jade Cargill, the card is stacked. Add in Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul, a Women’s Tag Team Title match, Roman Reigns’ return, and another heated chapter in the Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross feud, and you’ve got a can’t-miss kickoff to the weekend festivities.
Whether you’re here for the titles, the grudges, or the wild surprises, here’s a full breakdown of each match and predictions for Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam 2025:

WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill is set to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Since cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Nia Jax, Stratton has confidently held down SmackDown, defending her title against the likes of Charlotte Flair, Jax, and Trish Stratus. But Cargill presents a different kind of threat.
After winning the Queen of the Ring tournament and defeating Naomi at Evolution in a No Holds Barred match, Jade has momentum and power on her side. Their first meeting ended in disqualification, and now the rematch promises to be anything but predictable.
Naomi could seek revenge. Cardi B, who’s hosting the event, has shown public support for both Jade and Bianca Belair. She might factor in too. With Stratton running out of fresh challengers and Cargill rising fast, this title match feels like a major turning point for the division.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey: Jade Cargill
- Rags: Tiffany Stratton

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk
Two of WWE’s most decorated competitors will collide when CM Punk challenges Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk earned the title shot after surviving a grueling Gauntlet Match and defeating Bron Breakker on Raw. Gunther, on the other hand, is coming off a career-defining win over Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event, ending the Hall of Famer’s legendary run.
This match brings together two polar opposites. Gunther is a disciplined powerhouse who thrives on control and precision. Punk is the unpredictable veteran who thrives in chaos and controversy. Their styles may clash, but their ability to deliver big-match moments is undeniable.
Punk returned last year after more than a decade away from SummerSlam but came up short against Drew McIntyre. Gunther is undefeated at the event with victories over McIntyre and Damian Priest, and now holds the title once again after reclaiming it earlier this summer.
Beyond the belt, this match is surrounded by moving parts. Drew McIntyre, who still has unfinished business with Punk, is also scheduled to compete. Some believe Seth Rollins’ injury may not be legitimate and that he could make an unexpected return. Punk has made plenty of enemies. Gunther just won the title back not that long ago.
With emotions running high and the title on the line, this main event is as unpredictable as it is personal. Expect a classic, and don’t be surprised if someone crashes the party.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey: Gunther
- Rags: CM Punk

Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul
Randy Orton will team up with Jelly Roll to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul in one of the most talked-about tag matches of the year.
The rivalry began with a backstage altercation that quickly spilled into the ring. Jelly Roll made a surprise appearance at Saturday Night’s Main Event, backing up Orton against McIntyre and Paul. During the match, he shoved Paul off the apron, setting up Orton to hit an RKO and score the win. But the chaos didn’t stop there.
After the bell, Paul sucker punched Orton, only for Jelly Roll to step in once again and drop him with a right hand. That brief moment of celebration was cut short when McIntyre leveled the singer with a vicious Claymore Kick.
Backstage, Orton apologized for getting him involved. Jelly Roll didn’t flinch, saying their opponents made a mistake by underestimating him. Orton responded with a challenge for SummerSlam.
Given how often Jelly Roll has been laid out in recent weeks, many expect WWE to give him a big moment. This could be his redemption, or it could plant the seeds for an even bigger match down the line. Either way, he’s not just here for the spotlight. He’s here to fight.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey: Randy Orton & Jelly Roll
- Rags: Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

Women’s Tag Team Championships: The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss
Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
At WWE Evolution, Judgment Day retained the titles in a chaotic Fatal 4-Way match that included Flair and Bliss, the Kabuki Warriors, and the team of Sol Ruca and Zaria. Flair and Bliss were never pinned in that match, which helped Charlotte secure a direct title opportunity at SummerSlam.
There’s a lot of intrigue surrounding this one. A win could reshape Flair and Bliss as dominant champions across both brands. A loss, however, might push their fragile alliance past the breaking point and lead to a personal rivalry. With Alexa’s ties to The Wyatt Sicks, there’s also a real possibility of interference or a dramatic turn.
On the other side, Rodriguez and Perez are still settling in as champions. Another successful defense would strengthen their chemistry. But, the pressure of defending on such a big stage could also create tension… Especially with a Liv Morgan return lurking and Judgment Day involved in several ongoing storylines.
Whether it’s title drama, betrayal, or the looming presence of The Wyatt Sicks, this match is one to watch.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey & Rags: The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez)

Jey Uso & Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker w/ Paul Heyman
Roman Reigns returns to action at SummerSlam 2025, teaming up with “Main Event” Jey Uso to face Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, who will be backed by Paul Heyman. They are now known as “The Oracle.”
This match comes with deep history. At WrestleMania, Heyman turned on both Reigns and CM Punk in shocking fashion, delivering low blows and aligning with Seth Rollins. Under Rollins’ guidance, Heyman adopted a new persona and helped form a powerful faction with Breakker and Reed.
Following Rollins’ recent injury during a match with LA Knight, Reigns returned and confronted the group. In a surprise moment, Jey Uso rushed in to stand beside his cousin, and together they cleared the ring with a double Spear.
Breakker has made it clear he wants to surpass Reigns, even calling himself the new “Big Dog.” Reed has his own issues with Jey Uso, making this a high-stakes tag team clash filled with tension and potential fallout.
This is a major opportunity to establish Rollins’ new faction while he recovers. A win for Breakker and Reed could cement their dominance. On the other hand, a victory for Reigns and Jey might signal a reunion and build toward a future clash with Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline.
Expect drama, intensity, and the possibility of bigger stories unfolding after the final bell.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey: Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker
- Rags: Jey Uso & Roman Reigns

Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross
Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross will settle their heated rivalry in a match that feels deeply personal.
It all began with Kross playing mind games backstage, trying to chip away at Zayn’s confidence. Sami eventually got the better of him at Night of Champions, scoring a major victory in their first one-on-one encounter.
But the aftermath was anything but peaceful. Kross launched repeated attacks, injuring Zayn and costing him a chance to compete in the World Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contender Gauntlet Match. Despite not being fully cleared, Zayn returned to face Kross once more. That night, with help from Scarlett and a lead pipe, Kross got his win.
Now both men enter SummerSlam with something to prove. Kross wants to end this on his terms and continue building momentum. Zayn is out for revenge and redemption.
Many believe this is the moment to elevate Kross further. A win could solidify his rise and potentially spark a major shift in Zayn’s character. If Sami loses again, the fallout could push him in a new direction.
The match is intense, the story is layered, and the outcome could have major implications for both careers.
Quick Pick Predictions:
- Joey & Rags: Karrion Kross
