Don’t Sleep on Andreas Gustaffson vs. Rinat Fakhretdinov
UFC heads to Paris, France, this Saturday, September 6, with an action-packed card. In the main event, No. 2-ranked middleweight Nassourdine Imavov faces No. 7-ranked middleweight Caio Borralho in a five-round title eliminator.
But don’t overlook the prelims, gritty welterweights Andreas Gustaffson and Rinat Fakhretdinov throw down.
Scrappy Welterweights Clash
In the second fight of the prelims, Andreas Gustafsson (12-2) and Rinat Fakhretdinov (24-2-1) will battle with hopes of breaking into the top fifteen rankings.
Gustaffson, 34, heads into this tough matchup with a lot of momentum on his side. The Swedish bruiser currently holds a four-fight win streak following a dominant decision victory over knockout artist Khaos Williams back in June. Gustaffson has proven to be a legitimate finisher inside the cage. Ten of his twelve wins have come inside the distance.
He brings a relentless pace inside the cage paired with sheer physicality that makes him a tough fight for anyone. Gustaffson will look to continue his UFC momentum as he makes his second promotional appearance.
Fakhretdinov, 33, will be looking to shake some rust off as he enters the cage this Saturday. The well-rounded Russian last fought against Carlos Leal in October of last year. Fakhretdinov had his hands full with the Brazilian brute as he narrowly earned a controversial unanimous decision victory. He currently holds an astounding eleven fight win streak dating back to June 2014.
The Russian also poses a legit finishing threat as eighteen of his twenty-four wins have come inside the distance. Fakhretdinov has a tough task ahead as he faces what seems to be the toughest challenge of his UFC career.
UFC matchmakers did an excellent job with this pairing. Both fighters like to press forward and impose their will on opponents.
