Card Predictions for Contender Series Week 2:

Logan Paxton vs. Cristian Pérez

Logan Paxton is a 30-year-old wrestler fighting out of Denver with a 10-1 record. He has finished all but one of his victories. Seven of those wins have come by KO/TKO, including six first-round finishes, His lone loss came by decision in just his second professional bout.

Typically competing at welterweight, Paxton will make his first appearance at lightweight since 2023 when he takes on 26-year-old Cristian Pérez.

Despite being the younger fighter, Pérez enters with more professional experience and a 14-2 record. The Mexico native trains out of The Goat Shed in Miami and returns to Dana White’s Contender Series following a loss last season.

The UFC’s decision to bring Pérez back suggests they still see potential in the 26-year-old, who rebounded with a first-round finish on the regional scene in April and enters the matchup as the slight favorite.

Prediction: Cristian Pérez via KO/TKO

Taner Trembley vs. Roman Puga

Tanner Trembley enters this matchup undefeated at 7-0. He’s a 31-year-old wrestler from Minnesota. In his last outing, he stepped in as a short-notice replacement and earned a second-round TKO over a lightweight opponent who was also dealing with a late change.

While his most recent victory came by strikes, Trembley is best known for his submission game, with five of his seven wins coming by submission and three ending in the first round. He has finished every opponent he has faced, including throughout his amateur career.

Standing across from him will be 29-year-old Roman Puga, who enters with a 5-1 record. His lone loss came via doctor stoppage due to an eye cut. His skill set combines solid grappling with crisp boxing on the feet.

Puga presents a well-rounded challenge, but Trembley’s finishing ability and undefeated record make him the favorite heading into the matchup.

Prediction: Roman Puga via KO/TKO

Mahamed Aly vs. Alik Lorenz

Mohamed Aly is a 32-year-old Brazilian fighter returning to Dana White’s Contender Series after being stopped in under 30 seconds by Iwo Baraniewski last season. Despite his strong and decorated BJJ background, Aly prefers to keep the fight standing and hunt for knockouts.

He earned his way back to the Contender Series with a first-round TKO on the regional scene and will look to make the most of his second opportunity.

Standing across from him will be Alik Lorenz, who finds himself in a similar position after suffering a 30-second TKO loss to Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev on last season’s Contender Series. Like Aly, Lorenz bounced back with a first-round TKO to secure another opportunity.

With both fighters coming off quick knockout victories and looking to rebound from disappointing Contender Series appearances, this matchup has all the makings of a fast-paced finish. Aly enters as the slight favorite.

Prediction: Mohamed Aly via Submission

Namo Fazil vs. Kaik Brito

Namo Fazil is a 29-year-old born in Finland who represents Kurdistan. He last competed on the Rousey vs. Carano MVP card, where he turned heads with a memorable press conference before backing it up with an impressive submission win.

With a large and growing fanbase, along with undeniable charisma, Fazil has the potential to become a star. He has finished eight of his victories, with stoppages coming across all three rounds.

Standing across from him will be fellow 29-year-old Kaik Brito, who brings considerably more experience with a 19-6 record. He has finished all 19 of his victories, including 16 by knockout and 10 in the first round.

Brito enters as the reigning OKTAGON Welterweight Champion after capturing the title in his most recent fight. Despite Brito’s experience and finishing power, Fazil enters the matchup as the slight favorite.

Prediction: Namo Fazil via Decision

Douglas Rodrigues vs. Trent Miller

Douglas Rodrigues is a 27-year-old from Brazil whose only professional loss came in his second fight back in 2018, when he was just 19. He has finished all but one of his victories, including four by knockout, and captured a regional title in his most recent outing in March.

With his combination of finishing ability and momentum, Rodrigues could make an immediate impact on the middleweight division.

Standing across from him will be 30-year-old Trent Miller, a knockout artist who trains at Xtreme Couture. He returns to Dana White’s Contender Series after suffering a first-round loss last season but earned another opportunity with a regional victory in January.

Despite Miller’s power and previous experience on this stage, Rodrigues enters as the biggest favorite on the card.

Prediction: Douglas Rodrigues via KO/TKO
