Dennis Davis previews UFC 312: Du Plessis vs. Strickland 2
In the latest edition of our Main Event Preview, we cover the upcoming grudge rematch at UFC 312. Dricus Du Plessis puts his UFC middleweight title on the line against the man he beat it for, Sean Strickland. This time, we are joined by Xtreme Couture coach Dennis Davis, who helps provide some expert insight. While he primarily works with Tatiana Suarez, who will be competing for the strawweight championship on the same night, he does give us some behind-the-scenes insight on the vibes in camp.
Dennis Davis discusses the first fight between Dricus and Sean. He emphasizes that while some fans debated the decision, he doesn’t believe it was a robbery—though it was undeniably close. Looking ahead to the rematch, he anticipates another razor-thin battle and breaks down key factors that could influence the outcome. He touches on the unpredictability Dricus brings to the cage, the importance of Sean staying true to his style, and how takedowns played a role in their first fight. Dennis also highlights the sneaky-good aspects of each fighter’s skill set, from Dricus’s unorthodox striking to Sean’s underutilized ground game.
As the fight approaches, we get insights into Strickland’s camp and what kind of fight fans can expect. Additionally, he reflects on the significance of Tatiana Suarez fighting for a title and what it means to see her reach this moment.
Make sure you do not miss UFC 312 on Saturday, February 17th. It all goes down in Sydney, Australia, live on PPV.
