Card Predictions for Contender Series Week 10:

Erick Visconde vs. Ilias Bulaid

Erick Visconde, 29, hails from Brazil but trains in California. He enters this matchup with 12 finishes, split evenly between submissions and KO/TKOs, including six first-round stoppages. Coming off a regional championship victory, he brings finishing ability both on the feet and on the ground.

Ilias Bulaid, 31, represents Morocco, was born in the Netherlands, and trains in Ireland. Say that three times fast… He remains undefeated, with five KO/TKOs and one submission among his six finishes. Five have come in the opening round. Like Visconde, Bulaid is coming off a regional championship win, but his extensive kickboxing résumé adds another layer to his striking credentials. The two were originally scheduled to meet in Week 8 before Bulaid fell ill.

At 5-foot-10, Bulaid holds a three-inch height advantage. Visconde’s submission record gives him another route to victory, but Bulaid’s striking pedigree makes him the pick to get the job done on the feet.

Prediction: Ilias Bulaid via KO/TKO

Aline Pereira vs. Smilla Sundell

Aline Pereira, 36, enters this matchup on a two-fight winning streak, most recently competing for MVP on the Rousey vs. Carano card. The Brazilian brings a background in karate and kickboxing and has been training at Glover Teixeira’s gym. Being Alex Pereira’s sister adds attention, but the question here is how she handles the move to bantamweight after typically competing at flyweight.

Smilla Sundell, 21, represents Sweden and brings championship experience in Muay Thai. She has also competed at flyweight, although her most recent appearance came at bantamweight, giving her some familiarity with the weight heading into this matchup.

There is a 15-year age gap, but Sundell’s striking credentials are the stronger reason to back her. Pereira has experience of her own, so this should be a competitive test. The pick is Sundell to get the better of the exchanges and take the decision.

Prediction: Smilla Sundell via Decision

Luis Francischinelli vs. Will Rentz

Luis Francischinelli, 30, hails from Brazil but trains in California. He has won every fight by KO/TKO, including five first-round finishes. At 6-foot-6, he is unusually tall for a welterweight, and using that length effectively could be crucial against Rentz. His only career loss came by submission.

Will Rentz, 27, is an American riding a five-fight winning streak. He has also earned every victory by KO/TKO, with five first-round stoppages, including three straight heading into this bout. Neither man has needed the judges in a win, giving this matchup plenty of potential for an explosive finish.

Francischinelli enters as the favorite, but Rentz has the finishing ability to make this a dangerous assignment. The pick is Francischinelli, provided he can use his height to control the distance and keep Rentz from turning it into a close-range firefight.

Prediction: Luis Francischinelli via KO/TKO

Davi Cabral vs. Douglas da Lapa

Davi Cabral, 27, hails from Brazil but trains in Texas. He is undefeated, with six finishes in seven wins, including five first-round stoppages. All four of his KO/TKO victories have come in the opening round, making him an immediate threat. At 5-foot-9, he is short for a middleweight, despite having experience at light heavyweight.

Douglas da Lapa is also 27 and from Brazil, but stands six inches taller at 6-foot-3. He is undefeated as well, with five of his six wins coming by KO/TKO. Both have shown they can finish fights, although Cabral’s submission victories give him another option if the striking exchanges aren’t going his way.

Cabral’s early finishing ability makes him dangerous from the opening bell. Still, da Lapa’s height could create problems if he keeps Cabral working to close the distance. The pick is da Lapa to make the most of that advantage and find the stoppage.

Prediction: Douglas da Lapa via KO/TKO

Jason Asher vs. Greg Foster

Jason Asher, 26, is an American lightweight who stands at 6-foot-1. He has competed from featherweight to welterweight and finished every professional win by first-round KO/TKO. With just five professional bouts under his belt, he is still developing, but his extensive amateur experience gives him more rounds to draw from than that record suggests.

Greg Foster, 34, has also competed across multiple divisions, most recently at welterweight. The American has five finishes, consisting of two KO/TKOs and three submissions, all in the first round. His level of competition leaves some questions unanswered, but he has responded to his only professional loss with three consecutive finishes.

Foster’s submission threat gives Asher something to account for, especially if he gets overeager chasing another early knockout. Still, Asher’s consistent finishing ability makes him the pick to extend that streak.

Prediction: Jason Asher via KO/TKO
