LFA 200: Title Fight Previews & Main Card Predictions

Read Time:3 Minute, 0 Second

The Legacy Fighting Alliance returns to action this Saturday with its 200th event. This special occasion has called for a talent-loaded regional mixed martial arts lineup. Fight fans worldwide can tune in LIVE on UFC Fight Pass, this Saturday, January 25. LFA 200 features three title fights—the night caps off with championship bouts at featherweight, welterweight, and women’s flyweight.

Featherweight Championship

Elijah Johns (C) vs. Lerryan Douglas (IC)

The main event of LFA 200 features a title unification bout at featherweight. Reigning champion, Elijah Johns (10-2), will face interim champion, Lerryan Douglas (11-5).

Johns, 28, has achieved some remarkable accolades. He holds the record for the most fights in LFA history. He is also the only fighter to compete every year of the promotion’s existence. The reigning champion fights out of southpaw, making his opponent a tough test given their punching power and dangerous hooks. Douglas, 29, will be best served by keeping this fight standing as he holds the striking advantage. The Brazilian must show efficient takedown defense. He also needs strong cardio against a workhorse like Johns. The defending champion will press forward, mixing his boxing and takedown entries. Johns’ persistence and willpower will be too much for Douglas to overcome as the fight moves into the championship rounds.

Prediction: Elijah Johns via Unanimous Decision

Women’s Flyweight Championship

Shannon Clark (C) vs. Cheyanne Bowers (IC)

LFA 200’s co-main event features a women’s flyweight championship unification. Reigning champion Shannon Clark (5-1) takes on interim champion, Cheyanne Bowers (5-1).

Clark, 32, returns to the LFA cage after coming up short on Dana White’s Contender Series in September. Bowers, 30, is on a five-fight win streak. She won these since losing her professional MMA debut with LFA in October 2022. Both fighters have similar career paths. Their trajectories are alike, except for one difference. Clark suffered her single MMA loss in her most recent fight. Bowers experienced hers in her professional debut. Bowers hold the advantage in momentum, youth, and physical strength. The talented grappler will push the action. She will grab onto Clark, allowing her to initiate the clinch or change levels for a takedown. Throughout five rounds, Bowers will overpower and outwork Clark.

Prediction: Cheyanne Bowers via Unanimous Decision

Welterweight Championship

Vanilto Antunes (C) vs. Shamidkhan Magomedov (IC)

The first title fight of the LFA 200 features Brazilian Vanilto Antunes (16-7) looking to unify his title against the talented Russian interim champion Shamidkhan Magomedov (9-1).

Antunes is 30 years old. He returns to the LFA cage after suffering a first-round knockout loss on Dana White’s Contender Series back in October. Magomedov, 30, is 7-1 in his last eight fights. The Russian participated in season 32 of the The Ultimate Fighter. He fell short by losing via a second-round Anaconda choke in March 2024. But, Magomedov returned to LFA emphatically after this loss. He scored a first-round knockout over Alfonso Leyva at LFA 194, successfully defending his interim title. That said, Magomedov possesses legit punching power on the feet and will look to exchange in boxing range with Antunes. Magomedov’s sheer power is evident. Antunes’ compromised punch resistance contributes to the Russian’s quick first-round finish.

Prediction: Shamidkhan Magomedov via 2nd-Round KO/TKO

Quick Picks For The Remainder of The Main Card:

  • Joey Hart (6-2) def. Chris Mixan (5-1) via Unanimous Decision (Welterweight)
  • Devon Lozej (7-2) def. Enrique Pacheco Parra (8-1) via Unanimous Decision (Flyweight)
  • Alvin Hines (4-0) def. Mark Currier (3-4) via 1st-Round KO/TKO (Heavyweight)
