Petr Yan wants Sean O’Malley & Cejudo in his corner at UFC 273

Read Time:1 Minute, 52 Second

Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling will finally get the chance to run it back at UFC 273. However, due to VISA issues, Yan’s cornermen seemingly can’t make it to the fight.

By the time “No Mercy” and Sterling take the cage, it’ll be over a year since their last fight. The first bout ended controversially as “Aljo” became the first UFC champion to win via disqualification. This was due to an illegal knee from Yan to a grounded Sterling. Immediately, this would spark the ire of the MMA world, and a litany of memes mocking the new UFC bantamweight champion “Aljo”.

Of course, the Russian Yan wanted an immediate rematch as anyone would, but Sterling took the time off to get surgery for lingering injuries and hasn’t competed since then. Now, due to his usual cornermen seemingly unable to attend, the former champ is looking for replacements, and a few UFC stars have offered their assistance.

Sean O’Malley & Henry Cejudo to Corner Petr Yan?

After “Suga” Sean O’Malley recorded and posted a short video to social media telling Petr Yan he’d be up to corner him, the Russian has seemingly accepted the offer.

“One corner spot is taken by @SugaSeanMMA,” Yan said on Twitter, sharing the video.

Of course, this could just be a joke from Yan. As the word on the Russian’s cornermen is that they’ve re-applied for their VISAS. However, we are living in a world where Mike Perry famously had his girlfriend corner him for a fight, so we could say it’s possible. Especially if somehow Petr Yan’s cornermen get rejected again.

“Suga” isn’t the only fighter lending his support though, the infamous “Triple C” wants in as well.

“Hey coach @HenryCejudo what are your plans on April 9th?” Yan asked on Twitter.

“Get me a booster seat and I’ll work your corner… you kneed me #andnew” Cejudo would reply, sharing his thoughts in a punny way.

Do you think not having his original cornermen at his side will hinder Yan in the rematch with “Aljo”? Leave your opinion in the comments below!
