Will Fanatics Fest Bring More Surprises to WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?

WWE has already announced that NBA Champion and reigning NBA MVP Jalen Brunson will appear at this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event inside Madison Square Garden. While that’s exciting on its own, the timing of the event could open the door for even more celebrity appearances.
Fanatics Fest Invades WWE
New York City will also play host to Fanatics Fest this weekend, bringing together some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment just a short distance from Madison Square Garden. With so many athletes and celebrities already in town, it’s hard not to wonder whether WWE has a few more surprises planned.
Brunson won’t be the only New York Knicks star in the city. Teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart are at Fanatics Fest, making it easy to imagine the trio sharing the spotlight once again—this time inside a WWE ring instead of the hard-wood. Knicks fans have embraced this team like few others in recent memory, and seeing the squad receive another hero’s welcome during Saturday Night’s Main Event would undoubtedly bring the crowd to its feet.
NBA Stars Meet In The Ring
Another NBA star worth keeping an eye on is Tyrese Haliburton.
Unlike most athletes, Haliburton already has WWE history. The Indiana Pacers guard has made multiple appearances on WWE programming and is an outspoken fan of the product. He and Brunson even found themselves on opposite sides of the ring during a memorable WWE segment that immediately sparked fantasy booking from fans who wanted to see the NBA stars settle their rivalry in the squared circle.
With both players in New York this weekend, could WWE take that rivalry one step further? Even a brief face-to-face confrontation would likely generate a huge reaction from the Madison Square Garden crowd.
NFL Legend To WWE?
Then there’s arguably the biggest name of them all—Tom Brady.
The NFL legend is spending the weekend at Fanatics Fest, but what really caught WWE fans’ attention happened during Cody Rhodes’ live episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? on Thursday. During the conversation, Brady revealed he’d like to get in touch with WWE President Nick Khan about potentially stepping into a WWE ring someday.
Cody didn’t hesitate. Rather than telling Brady to make the call, Rhodes extended the invitation himself.
Brady also admitted that if he ever appeared in WWE, he’d want to be a heel. Considering WWE’s history of surprise celebrity appearances, it’s not difficult to picture the seven-time Super Bowl champion showing up unannounced and blindsiding a fan favorite to instantly draw the ire of the WWE Universe.
Of course, those are only a handful of the possibilities.
Fanatics Fest will be packed with stars from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, combat sports, entertainment, and beyond. With so many recognizable faces already gathered in New York, WWE has a unique opportunity to capitalize on the moment and deliver a few memorable surprises during Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Will it happen? Maybe. Maybe not.
But when WWE rolls into Madison Square Garden with thousands of fans in attendance and countless celebrities just minutes away, it’s difficult not to let the imagination run wild.
