WWE LFG Season 3: Episode 3 Recap
WWE LFG returns for Season 3 on A&E, bringing fans another behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to earn a WWE contract. With two seasons already in the books, this year raises the stakes and promises the most unique season yet.
Familiar faces are back to guide the next generation. Booker T and Bubba Ray will return as coaches, and both Natalya and Kevin Owens join the show as new additions to the panel. Season 1 was claimed by The Undertaker, and Michelle McCool took home the win in Season 2. But this time, everything is different.
There are no more points, no more teams, and no more fighting for an NXT contract. Each week, the legends provide guidance both in-ring and on the mic, shaping the superstars of tomorrow and helping mold the future of WWE one match at a time.
Here’s what went down this week:
Season 3, Episode 3: ‘What’s in a Name?’
What’s in a Name?, aired on Sunday, May 10th on A&E.
LFG veteran Anthony Luke is back, but with a new name and new attitude. Will he thrive under this latest persona, or fall short of expectations? He battles newcomer Tate Wilder, who brings his extreme attitude and style to LFG.
The charismatic Trill London takes on Ivy League recruit Braxton Cole, but can Trill control the urge to take risks and stay off the injured list? A tag team match rounds out the competition.

Episode Notes
- Booker T gets to work a tag match with Penina Tuilaepa and Sirena Linton, who have both been doing well as heels separately.
- We learn that things are starting to click for Layla Diggs. Her partner, Masyn Holiday, is brand new to the mix and the least experienced of the group. They usually work as heels, but they’ve been tagging together for a bit now.
- The Jeff Hardy comparisons continue to follow Trill London. We learn that he’s been dealing with a lot of injuries and spending more time in medical than WWE would like.
- We also meet Braxton Cole, an Ivy League graduate. He’s incredibly smart, but also an overthinker, and the coaches want him to rely more on intuition and instinct.
- Nattie and KO work the main event. We’re introduced to Tate Wilder in this episode and learn he likes to take risks. He’s athletic, but according to the coaches, relies too much on flashy, high-flying moves and not enough on the fundamentals.
- The coaches feel Kam Hendrix (Anthony Luke) has all the tools, but still isn’t ready. This becomes a make-or-break episode for him, and Shawn Michaels ultimately pulls him from LFG for the time being so he can focus on improving.

The Matches on Episode 3
WWE LFG Match Rating (1–5 Scale)
1️⃣ 😐 Meh / Okay – Not much happened, filler match
2️⃣ 🙂 Decent – Solid wrestling, nothing special
3️⃣ 🔥 Good / Fun – Crowd got into it, entertaining spots
4️⃣ 💥 Great / Must-See – High energy, memorable moments
5️⃣ 🤯 Epic / Instant Classic – Mind-blowing, match of the season candidate
Anthony Luke vs. Tate Wilder
- Results: Anthony Luke def. Tate Wilder
- Rating: 🔥
The boys had a rare chance to cut a promo before their match, and it gave us some clear separation. Newcomer Tate Wilder stepped up and delivered a solid showing on the mic. Anthony Luke struggled and ended up choking under pressure.
Overall, the match itself was good but nothing special. It served its purpose in introducing Wilder well, and Kam Hendrix got over as the big “bad guy” in the process.
But for someone with three seasons under his belt, you’d expect a lot more from Luke, especially considering some of his stronger performances in the past. Shawn Michaels ultimately decides to pull Luke from LFG for a bit so he can focus on getting better.
That marks a first for the season.
Layla Diggs & Masyn Holiday vs. Penina Tuilaepa & Sirena Linton
- Results: Layla Diggs & Masyn Holiday def. Penina Tuilaepa & Sirena Linton
- Rating: 🔥
This was a super solid match considering the level of experience in the ring. It was only Layla Diggs’ second LFG appearance, and she made me a fan tonight.
Layla Diggs and Masyn Holiday also gave us something different with their dance routine entrance, which felt refreshing. It genuinely felt like we were witnessing the beginning of what could become a different, successful tag team.
Overall, the coaches felt it was unclear who the babyfaces and heels were, which made sense considering Layla Diggs and Masyn Holiday usually work as heels. Still, it was a fun first women’s tag match of the season.
Trill London vs. Braxton Cole
- Results: Trill London def. Braxton Cole
- Rating: 🙂
The match was going well until Trill London made a mistake that could have seriously injured Braxton Cole. He followed it up with another botch during a move off the top rope, completely killing the momentum of the match.
Booker T felt Trill needed better balance and questioned whether high-flying offense is really his forte. Bubba also criticized him for throwing his body around too recklessly. Unfortunately, the match seemed to prove that point.
Considering we now know Trill London was part of WWE’s most recent round of releases, this moment felt pretty telling in hindsight.
