The third round of The Ultimate Writer Season 3 is officially underway. TUW 12 will feature the competition’s first-ever tag team matchups.
If you don’t already know, The Ultimate Writer is a competition that features 16 of the best combat sports writers around the world in a competition where article views matter. Winners this season are determined weekly when highest article views go head-to-head to determine The Ultimate Writer. For this round specifically, highest articles from each member will be added together to get the total score for the week.
This third card showcases an under the radar matchup in the headliner. Lee Brown & Doug Murray will be taking on the first eliminated players of the season, Ryan Truland & Juan Reneo who look to get redemption and take over their opponent’s spots in the bracket… Welcome to Redemption Week!
Week 3 will be one-week long. If a tag team that is currently still in the running for TUW title loses this week, they will be replaced by those who defeated them. So this week is extremely important for our bracket continuation.
Underrated Matchup
There are some lopsided matchups this week, but for the underrated one to watch, we had to pick Katie Vega & Dylan Fritts vs. Greg Matthews & Jake Foley. Greg may be a new game to Season 3, but he participated on TUW Season 1 and is one of the pro wrestling OG writers on The Scrap making his return. Who knows what he’ll bring to the table, which makes this matchup more interesting now that Dreux Stamford has been replaced.
Katie has been a force in this competition, and Dylan pulled off an amazing upset last week. Can the duo take out the surging Greg Matthews & Jake Foley? It should be interesting to see how it plays out…
Matchup of the Week
Our headliner is without a doubt the matchup of the week. After each team chose to eliminate Ryan Truland & Juan Reneo due to being threats in the competition, things backfired. Since it’s Tag Team & Redemption Week on TUW, the two will join forced and look to replace Lee Brown & Doug Murray on the tournament bracket.
Lee & Doug pulled off huge upsets last week. Can they work their magic for a second week in a row against one of the toughest teams? Or do Ryan & Juan reinstate themselves into TUW bracket and officially put themselves back in the running for the title of The Ultimate Writer? We can’t wait to see how it plays out!
Underdogs to Watch
The Underdog Tam Team to Watch this week is without a doubt the team of Leif Payne & Josh Diaz. The reasoning? Well, they are facing the most stacked Tag Team created by the bracket, Connor Rogowsky & Kevin Varghese. They have a chance to get out of the loser bracket and back into the competition by taking out arguable the Veteran & Newbie to beat this season.
