Jake Paul responds to Firas Zahabi: ‘These MMA guys are running out of excuses’
Jake Paul is set for another boxing vs. MMA collision as he takes on former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on Aug. 29.
Many people from the MMA community have weighed in on the fight. This includes coach Firas Zahabi. The TriStar Gym coach made headlines earlier this month when he made a shocking accusation on the TriStar Gym youtube channel. Zahabi said that Paul would be on performance-enhancing drugs for the fight.
On the debut episode of True Geordie’s new podcast The Pain Game, Paul was asked about these accusations.
“I look at it as a compliment, right?” Paul said. “These MMA guys are running out of excuses on why their guys are losing. To make a claim like that out of nowhere just shows. Like he should be embarrassed. My manager texted me that, I woke up in the morning and he was like, ‘George St-Pierre’s coach is saying that you’re using PEDs FYI.’ I literally swiped my phone up, went to Safari and I Googled ‘what’s PEDs.’ It says performance-enhancing drugs, I’m like, ‘Oh my god,’ these guys are trying to do anything at this point to discredit me.”
Ben Askren fell victim to Paul in their April encounter which was the YouTuber’s most recent outing. The first-round TKO win propelled Paul to 3-0 with prior wins coming over a fellow YouTuber, AnEsonGib before knocking out former NBA basketball player Nate Robinson.
Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley goes down on this Sunday night live on Showtime pay-per-view. The full card can be seen: here.
