AEW & STARDOM

AEW & STARDOM: The Start of Something Special

After years of speculation and rumors, AEW and STARDOM have finally started working together. This could really benefit both promotions in the long run, especially STARDOM and their quest to expand on U.S. soil.

It was no secret that Rossy Ogawa was not a fan of AEW and Tony Khan. This was a major factor in why AEW and STARDOM couldn’t come close to a working relationship like AEW has had in the past with promotions like NJPW, AAA, DDT, TJPW, and CMLL. The departure of Ogawa has been a key factor for both promotions to find a middle ground and start working together.

What does a working relationship mean for both promotions?

For the Joshi promotion, having the AEW spotlight will help the promotion gather more attention to their product. Especially now that the promotion will face several key departures in its roster. Having a partner like AEW could be beneficial to STARDOM, and we have a good idea of what’s to come for the biggest Joshi promotion in Japan.

AEW will gain access to some of the best female wrestlers in the world like Starlight Kid, Tam Nakano and Mayu Iwatani. This partnership also opens the possibility of AEW wrestlers doing excursions in STARDOM, with Megan Bayne being the most recent example of this. There are a few wrestlers on the AEW roster that could benefit from an excursion to improve in terms of in-ring work.

One of the wrestlers that will win with this partnership is Mina Shirakawa. She is one of the wrestlers on the STARDOM roster that has the most potential to shine on American TV. Her recent appearance on AEW Dynamite is all the proof you need. Mina might not be the best in terms of in-ring talent. However, she is super charismatic and this could help her connect with American audiences fast.

For now, we are seeing the beginning of something that could be special. But only time will tell if their working relationship will deliver.

What are your thoughts on the partnership?
