The New Orleans Saints will be without one of their young wide receivers for the opening stretch of the 2026 NFL season.
Six Game Suspension For Brock Rechsteiner
As reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter, Saints wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner has been suspended for the first six games of the 2026 campaign.
While the suspension will keep him sidelined once the regular season begins, Brock Rechsteiner is still permitted to participate in all preseason activities. The suspension will officially begin once NFL rosters are trimmed to the league-mandated 53-player limit.
The timing allows Rechsteiner to continue practicing with the team throughout the summer before stepping away for the first six weeks of meaningful regular-season action.
Although the NFL has not yet released additional details regarding the suspension, the timing presents a difficult challenge for the young receiver.
A six-game suspension is a significant setback for any player trying to establish themselves on an NFL roster. It also creates an opportunity for other Saints receivers to make an impression during the opening weeks of the season.
NFL Roster Cuts
The suspension also couldn’t come at a worse time for Rechsteiner. With the NFL’s roster cuts looming at the end of the preseason, he’ll need to impress the Saints enough to earn one of the team’s 53-man roster spots. As a result, his chances of making the opening-day roster have become significantly more complicated.
If Rechsteiner, son of WWE Hall Of Famer Scott Steiner, does make New Orleans’ initial 53-man roster, he will be eligible to return following the completion of his six-game suspension.
That’s assuming he meets all league requirements for reinstatement. Now, the Saints will continue through training camp knowing they’ll need to prepare for the season without one of their young receivers.
