The Scrap recently announced the return of The Ultimate Writer to kick off the new year.

TUW is a competition for The Scrap’s staff, this year will feature 16 of the best MMA, boxing and pro wrestling content producers around the world in a competition of article views. The first round of the new season began February 21st and the winners will be determined weekly when highest article views go head-to-head to determine The Ultimate Writer (unless otherwise specified).

Season 4 of TUW will feature our first-ever Tag Team season.

Duos from The Scrap will go head-to-head to see who will be crowned the fourth Ultimate Writer winners. The first-round matchup will feature a pivotal Battle Royale that will set the tone for the season and its rankings. All 16 writers are competing for a prize that will be revealed with the season’s official bracket. Read about Season 4 teams below…

Katie Vega & Shawn Bitter | The Mixed Match

Though Shawn Bitter is new to The Scrap and The Ultimate Writer, he’s very well known in the MMA community. He also has a passionate fanbase that could take him far in the competition. Shawn tagging with the true powerhouse and #1-ranked writer surely makes him and Katie Vega the team to beat this season.

Katie is the TUW Season 2 Champion, and a runner-up last season. With Shawn in her corner, she could surely win her second title and become the first-ever two-time TUW Champion. Will they live up to their expectations? Tune in weekly to find out…

Joey Els & Sergio Vicente | The YouTubers

This should be a fun duo. The energy and content they bring to the table can make them potential real players in this game. Though they are both new to The Scrap, if they come forth with creative content, they should be able to set themselves aside from the competition.

We have featured Joey Els’ music on the site several times, including our YouTube channel. As for Sergio Vicente, not only has he hosted his own podcast, he debuted our DWCS Breakdowns with Paul Capaldo this year on The Scrap’s Instagram page. Definitely keep an eye on these two as they both have some fun things debuting soon on the site.

Dylan Bowker & Josh Diaz | The Trolls

Although Dylan is new to the competition, he may be that much needed tag team partner Josh Diaz needs to take over the competition. Both men are hilarious on their social media channels, but also bring quality content to The Scrap.

Even though Josh hasn’t done well in past competitions, he certainly understands how to navigate the competition. That is going to be critical this season, where the title is up for grabs and any one of these teams can walk away with it all…

Cole Henry & Lee Brown | The Unlikely Duo

This is an unlikely duo indeed. But if you sleep on them… they’ll take the titles and the W’s every week. Out of all writers, Lee Brown has been at The Scrap the longest. He has also been in every The Ultimate Writer, even coaching Season 2. Pair that with Cole Henry’s insane viewership and these two are going to be a problem.

Lee deserves his long deserved TUW Championship, and Cole is the perfect partner to win it all with. We can’t wait to see how these two do this season!

Juan Reneo & Dylan Fritts | The Dark Horsemen

This is one of the best duos in the game. They could surely win it all this season too… Not only are they the only pro wrestling duo, they both killed it last season. If their individual growth continues, together they could be a powerhouse duo and come through with some of their best content.

Spain’s Juan Reneo is a Scrap OG who consistently puts out digestible content to our readers. Pair that with Dylan Fritts’ creative content and they could very well be the first-ever TUW Tag Team Champions.

Lewis Simpson & Makoa Goble | The Prospects

This is the only pair of newbies in the competition, but their friendship and camaraderie has already been built prior to The Scrap. So although there is no telling how well they will do, they certainly have potential to bring new eyes to The Ultimate Writer.

Remember the names Lewis Simpson and Makoa Goble… They have the opportunity to win it all this season if they do it strategically. And they are already off to a solid start.

Kevin Varghese & Jake Foley | The Underdogs

The Underdogs have officially debut in Week 2 of the competition. After great TUW debuts in Season 3, Kevin Varghese & Jake Foley join forces to try and become the first-ever tag team TUW winners. Though they are new to this season, they are getting thrown in the shake-up. So they may not be a team for long…

Kevin was the last newbie standing last season, making a lasting impression on TUW competition. He won some critical weeks and showed he was the true Dark Horse all along. As for Jake, he also had a great first season, being one of the few to really make in impact on the YouTube side of things.

The Mystery Duo – TBA

TUW always has twists and turns, so why not start the season off with a couple? Our mystery duo will at some point in the competition. It could be Scrap returners, newbies, or even well-known media members.

Tune in this season to find out…
