Wednesday Night Wars: AEW Dynamite Week 22 Review

Read Time:3 Minute, 3 Second

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite took place in the Silverstein Eyes Center Arena in Independence, Missouri. This was the go-home show for the upcoming pay-per-view Revolution, that will take place on Feb. 29.

Overall this was for the third week in a row a near-perfect episode of AEW Dynamite. Everything worked and the matches on the show were so different and yet very fun to watch.

Kenny Omega w/ The Young Bucks def. Pac – Ironman match (2-1)

This match was incredible and delivered in every way possible. This bout is without a doubt a match of the year contender and arguably the best TV match of 2020.

This match was intense and had a lot of great moments. This is one that all people should go out of there way to watch.

After the match ended, Tony Schiavone interviewed Pac but Orange Cassidy came out and teased Pac.

Jurassic Express def. The Inner Circle (Santana, Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara)

This was an all-action bout. Both teams did a great job performing in a great match following a match of the year contender between Omega and Pac.

During the finals moments of the match, Darby Allin appeared to prevent the Inner Circle from cheating in this match and advancing his feud with Sammy Guevara.

Video Package for MJF & Cody

After two non-stop action matches, this video packages recapping the feud between MJF and Cody was needed to slow things down.

The video package was great and sold the idea that MJF and Cody is a must-see match and that you only get to see it this Saturday at Revolution.

Best Friends w\ Orange Cassidy def. The Blade and The Butcher w\ The Bunny

This match was an entertaining tag team match. Both teams looked great. During the match, Orange Cassidy and The Bunny had a great interaction between each other.

Best Friends are being built as the next contenders of the AEW tag team championships it seems like.

After the match ended, Schiavone interviewed Best Friends and announced a new match for Revolution between Orange Cassidy and Pac.

Hikaru Shida def. Big Swole, Shanna, & Yuka Sakazaki

This was a fun and simple four-way between all of these wrestlers. All the ladies in this match were great and had moments to shine.

With this win, it seems like Hiraku Shida is being positioned as the next contender for the women’s championship.

Dark Order video

Evil Uno made a great promo teasing the arrival of “the exalted one.” During this promo Evil Uno said the word “obsolete” seemingly hinting at Matt Hardy coming to AEW.

Jim Ross sit-down interview between Kenny Omega & Adam “Hangman” Page & The Young Bucks

Every time AEW does this sit-down interviews they are home run and this was no exception. Jim Ross was great in this interview, but the star of all this was Adam “Hangman” Page.

Jon Moxley & Chris Jericho Weigh-In

This part included guest ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta (former ring announcer for AWA and WCW). The best way to describe this segment is with the word “chaos.”

This was great and was the best way to sell the intensity of this feud. Moxley and Jericho work so well together for this last segment before their bout at Revolution.

Rating

This episode of AEW Dynamite was just incredible and for the third or fourth week, depending on who you ask, was a near-perfect episode.

Once again everything worked and served a purpose for the upcoming pay-per-view. The match of the night was Kenny Omega vs. Pac.

Rating: A+
