Card Predictions for Contender Series Week 9:

Alivia Bierley vs. Summer Onley

Alivia Bierley, 30, enters this matchup on a five-fight winning streak after losing her professional debut. She has finished her last two opponents and owns three professional wins by KO/TKO, along with an amateur championship. Weight has been an issue for Bierley in the past, making the weigh-ins worth watching.

Summer Onley, 32, is undefeated through six professional fights, with five wins by KO/TKO. She has also captured a regional championship and defended it once, building on an amateur career that included titles in three organizations. Her six amateur submission victories suggest she has ways to finish beyond her striking.

Both fighters bring championship experience and proven finishing ability, giving this matchup the ingredients for an action-packed fight. Onley enters as the betting favorite, but Bierley’s recent form makes her a compelling challenger.

Prediction: Summer Onley via Submission

Sal Everett vs. Ozzy Martin

Sal Everett, 29, enters this matchup unbeaten across his amateur and professional careers, riding an eight-fight winning streak. He has competed primarily at middleweight and returns to welterweight for the first time since his professional debut. All four of his professional wins have come in the opening round, split evenly between submissions and KO/TKO victories, including a four-second stoppage. The former amateur champion stands 6-foot-3 and should bring a size advantage as he moves down in weight.

Ozzy Martin, 24, represents Peru and trains out of New Hampshire. He is undefeated as a professional, with every victory coming by KO/TKO, including two finishes in under 30 seconds. He also brings amateur championship experience into the matchup.

With both fighters unbeaten and accustomed to ending fights quickly, this one could turn into a race to the finish. Everett enters as the favorite, but the pick here is Martin to get it done for the Northeast.

Prediction: Ozzy Martin via KO/TKO

Roque Conceição vs. Alexander Chavez

Brazil’s Roque Conceição, 26, has earned all but one of his professional wins by stoppage, including eight by KO/TKO and four first-round finishes. A regional champion in multiple promotions, he returns to the Contender Series after falling short against TUF veteran Imanol Rodriguez last season. Conceição rebounded with a first-round KO/TKO victory to earn another opportunity.

Alexander Chavez, also 26, represents Peru and is unbeaten across his professional and amateur careers, riding a 15-fight winning streak. Six of his nine professional victories have come by KO/TKO, and he added a regional championship to his résumé in 2024.

Conceição gets a second chance to prove he belongs, but Chavez presents another difficult test. Both have the power to end this fight early, and their regional title experience adds to the appeal of an already competitive matchup. Chavez enters as the favorite against a returning opponent eager to make the most of his second shot.

Prediction: Alexander Chavez via KO/TKO

Ryuho Miyaguchi vs. Mateus Soares

Japan’s Ryuho Miyaguchi, 28, arrives on the Contender Series after competing in the Road to UFC tournament, where he suffered his first professional loss. Six of his seven wins have come by KO/TKO, including four first-round finishes, though the level of competition he has faced remains a question mark. At 5-foot-10, Miyaguchi will be the taller bantamweight in this matchup.

Brazil’s Mateus Soares, 22, enters on a four-fight winning streak and has finished all but one of his professional wins. His record includes nine KO/TKO victories, one submission and eight first-round finishes. He has also won and successfully defended a regional title while facing a stronger schedule of opponents.

Both fighters have impressive finishing records, but Soares brings momentum and a more tested résumé. He enters as the favorite, with his experience against stronger opposition giving him the edge.

Prediction: Mateus Soares via KO/TKO

Preston LaGrange vs. Nell Ariano

France’s Nell Ariano, 31, is undefeated as a professional, with four of his six wins coming by KO/TKO. He was originally scheduled to face Ivan Gnizditskiy, but visa issues forced Gnizditskiy to withdraw, opening the door for Preston LaGrange to step in on short notice.

LaGrange, 27, is an American middleweight moving up a division for this opportunity. While the late opponent change gives him limited time to prepare specifically for Ariano, he was already scheduled to compete later in October and should have been in camp. He has finished all six of his professional wins, recording four submissions and two KO/TKO victories, with four finishes coming in the opening round. He also brings regional championship experience.

Ariano enters as the biggest favorite on the card, with LaGrange facing the challenges of a short-notice opportunity in a heavier division. Still, the American’s submission record presents a different threat and adds intrigue to this late replacement matchup.

Prediction: Nell Ariano via KO/TKO
