Fabian Aichner

Fabian Aichner May Have Finally Found Where He Belongs In TNA

Read Time:6 Minute, 33 Second

On the May 14, 2026 episode of TNA Impact, Cedric Alexander defeated Leon Slater to capture the X-Division Championship. As Alexander celebrated and the show appeared ready to fade to black, the arena lights suddenly went out.

Three words flashed across the screen: “Veni. Vidi. Vici.”

Moments later, the name appeared.

Fabian Aichner.

Known to many as Giovanni Vinci, the Italian-born wrestler stepped on to the stage to a thunderous reaction. Without saying a word, Aichner pointed towards Alexander’s championship, immediately signaling his intentions.

The moment spoke for itself.

One week later, Aichner made those intentions even clearer.

On the May 21st episode of Impact, Aichner interrupted The System during the opening segment and formally introduced himself to the TNA audience. While Aichner made it clear that the X-Division Championship is his immediate goal, his message went far beyond simply chasing a title.

Aichner said he came to TNA for three things: Respect, redemption, and recognition.

Then came the line that may ultimately define this next chapter of his career.

“I’m not just some gimmick. I’m a future TNA Champion.”

That statement cuts directly to the heart of Fabian Aichner’s career trajectory.

Aichner was released from WWE in February 2025 after nearly a decade with the company. Now, in TNA, he has something that he hasn’t had in years. A genuine opportunity for reinvention.

For many fans, Giovanni Vinci was a character.

But Fabian Aichner is a wrestler.

Lost In The Shuffle of Imperium

Aichner spent the majority of his WWE run alongside Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther as part of Imperium. Alongside former member Alexander Wolfe, the group became one of the defining factions of NXT UK.

Gunther’s historic 870-day reign as NXT UK Champion helped establish the brand’s identity, while Aichner and Kaiser found success at two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

Everything appeared to be lining up for Imperium to dominate WWE’s main roster. Instead, the group slowly evolved into something far different.

After losing the NXT Tag Team Championships to The Creed Brothers, Aichner walked out on Kaiser and Imperium was eventually called up to SmackDown as the duo of Gunther and Kaiser. The seeds for a singles run had been planted.

In May 2022, Aichner re-debuted in NXT 2.0 as Giovanni Vinci, a wealthy Italian playboy complete with luxury vignettes and a flashy presentation. The gimmick showed promise, but the run was short-lived. By September, Vinci was reunited with Imperium on SmackDown.

Within the faction, the hierarchy became increasingly clear. Gunther became the centerpiece and eventual world champion. Kaiser became the charismatic mouthpiece and personality of the group. Meanwhile, WWE presented Vinci as the most expendable part of the presentation.

That never meant he lacked talent. He simply existed alongside a generational champion and one of WWE’s most naturally entertaining talkers.

The Push That Never Materialized

By 2024, Vinci was removed from Imperium once again, seemingly setting the stage for a renewed singles push. On paper, the tools were there.

Technical precision. Explosive athleticism. A rare blend of power and aerial offense.

And, an arrogant heel presentation that fit him naturally.

Then the bell rang.

Vinci officially re-debuted in September 2024 against Apollo Crews. Everyone remembers the match. He lost in three seconds. Fans immediately criticized the decision online, but still assumed it had to be part of a larger story. Surely WWE wasn’t reintroducing a talented wrestler simply to defeat him in seconds.

However, the rematch quickly changed that optimism because Vinci lost again.

It turned out to be his final televised WWE appearance as he was released five months later.

People Forget How Good Fabian Aichner Actually Is

Long before Imperium reached WWE television, Aichner had already established himself as one of Europe’s most polished and versatile wrestlers.

He competed in the inaugural Cruiserweight Classic, a tournament that helped reignite WWE’s interest in international wrestling and eventually contributed to the formation of NXT UK.

Ironically, Cedric Alexander was part of that same tournament. Alexander became so overwhelmingly popular that fans famously chanted “Please Sign Cedric,” prompting Triple H to publicly acknowledge the demand.

Years later, the two now find themselves connected once again in TNA.

Aichner’s body of work speaks for itself. Outstanding tag matches against teams like Mustache Mountain, Breezango, and The Undisputed Era showcased a wrestler capable of blending technical wrestling, explosive athleticism, and brutal physicality at an elite level.

He is as comfortable flying from the top rope as he is trading strikes in the center of the ring. Aichner wrestles like someone built specifically for modern wrestling’s hybrid era.

TNA Is Quietly Becoming The Perfect Landing Spot

Over the last several years, TNA has quietly become one of wrestling’s best environments for reinvention.

The company’s partnership with WWE has created crossover opportunities unlike anything fans could have imagined a few years ago, while the promotion itself has been increasingly comfortable allowing wrestlers to rediscover themselves creatively.

More importantly, TNA is a place where talent can find consistency. Wrestlers like Mustafa Ali, Nic Nemeth, and Indi Hartwell all found fresh momentum after their WWE departures.

Meanwhile, Leon Slater has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting young stars in wrestling, while Joe Hendry transformed a viral entrance them into a TNA World Championship reign and a WrestleMania appearance.

TNA gives wrestlers something increasingly valuable in modern wrestling: Time, identity, and consistency.

That environment feels tailor-made for Aichner. And based on his opening promo, Aichner clearly understands the opportunity in front of him.

The words “respect”, “redemption” and “recognition” perfectly encapsulate why this move feels so compelling. TNA is not asking Fabian Aichner to become a parody, a side character, or a supporting piece in someone else’s story.

For the first time in years, he feels positioned as the story itself.

He Doesn’t Need To Become Gunther

Wrestling fans often measure success comparatively, especially when factions split.

Has Gunther become one of WWE’s most dominant champions and defining heels? Absolutely.

Has Kaiser developed into an entertaining singles personality capable of connecting with audiences in the United States and Mexico? Without question.

That still does not mean that Aichner failed. Not every wrestler needs to become a global superstar to become valuable to the industry. Success looks different for everyone.

And perhaps this is exactly what makes this TNA run so intriguing. For the first time in years, Aichner is no longer being compared to what Imperium became.

He is finally being given the opportunity to define himself on his terms.

Why This Move Feels Right

The TNA style feels naturally suited for Aichner’s strengths.

He now has the opportunity to showcase his athleticism and technical precision on a more streamlined roster filled with some of wrestling’s hottest names. More importantly, immediately inserting himself into the X-Division Championship picture signals that TNA clearly sees value in what he brings to the table.

The X-Division itself caries enormous legacy. From AJ Styles and Samoa Joe to Ace Austin and Leon Slater, the division’s philosophy has always remained the same: “It’s not about weight limits. It’s about no limits.”

That philosophy aligns perfectly with Aichner’s style.

He is too explosive to be confined to traditional heavyweight wrestling, yet too physically imposing to fit neatly into the cruiserweight mold.

The X-Division has always rewarded innovation, versatility, and pace, qualities Aichner has possessed throughout his entire career.

In many ways, this feels like a natural fit. And if his first two appearances are any indication, TNA has no intention of treating him like an afterthought.

Final Thoughts

Sometimes success isn’t about becoming the biggest star in the room. Sometimes its about finally finding the right room.

WWE introduced Giovanni Vinci to a wider audience. But TNA may finally introduce wrestling fans to Fabian Aichner.
