NXT TakeOver: Toronto Predictions

Read Time:3 Minute, 24 Second

When one of the Big 4 PPV’s happen, whether it is SummerSlam, Mania, Royal Rumble, or Survivor Series, NXT TakeOver’s tend to steal to show and bring the excitement. This time is no different.

The card looks stacked from top to bottom. Let’s get into the predictions for NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

Candice LeRae vs Io Shirai

In the only non-title match on the card, Candice takes on her former friend, Io Shirai. With Io’s fresh heel turn, I don’t see any reason why she shouldn’t win this match. I do believe this will be one of the best matches of the night however, both of these women are highly underrated. Candice is the perfect person for Heel Io to get a win over because Candice is the most babyface wrestler since John Cena.

Candice and Io are exact opposites, Candice is bright and bubbly and Io is dark and quiet. I love this feud and as I said there is no reason why Io should lose this match.

Io Shirai def. Candice LeRae.

NXT Women’s Championship – Shayna Baszler (C) vs Mia Yim

In probably my most predictable match on the show, Shayna defends against Mia Yim. Of all the women on the NXT roster Shayna should lose that title too, Mia is low on that list. This feud has not been the greatest and I believe Shayna losing her championship should be a much bigger moment. I think it’ll be a TakeOver-level match though.

Shayna Baszler retains the NXT Women’s Championship.

NXT North American Championship Triple Threat Match – Velveteen Dream (C) vs Pete Dunne vs Roderick Strong

This match plays into my prediction for the next two matches as well, because I have one big prediction. Undisputed Era will walk away from TakeOver draped in gold.

This has potential to be match of the year because all three of these wrestlers are world class. I have loved Velveteen Dream’s title run, he has held it for the longest, currently over 160 days. Pete Dunne is also fantastic and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he won the title here. However, I think Roderick Strong will win the championship and begin the larger story of the Undisputed Era winning all the championships.

This will be insane.

Roderick Strong wins the North American Championship.

NXT Tag Team Championships – Street Profits (C) vs Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish)

This also plays into that story of Undisputed Era winning all the championships, and I think that story will continue here. Also Street Profits have been on Raw as of late, I think they are one championship loss from a call up. As I’ve said for every match on the card, this has the potential to steal the show. Nobody does tag team wrestling like NXT and this will be no exception. Street Profits are made for the main roster, and it makes all the sense in the world for them to lose here and head up to Raw.

Undisputed Era wins the NXT Tag Team Championships.

NXT Championship 2/3 Falls Match – Adam Cole (C) vs Johnny Gargano

I think I’ve made my prediction for this match fairly obvious. I believe Cole will retain here and every member of the Undisputed Era will leave Toronto with championship gold. I don’t think it makes sense for Gargano to win it back here. If Ciampa is good to return, you could certainly do a story with them, or he could just go up to main roster. Either way, I think storyline-wise, it makes more sense for Adam Cole to retain here. Their rivalry has been amazing but I do think this should be the end.

Either way, know these two will deliver and no doubt the Toronto crowd will be on fire!

Adam Cole retains the NXT Championship.
