Power Slap Super Heavyweight Championship
Dumpling (c) vs. Da Hawaiian Hitman
The main event of this card goes down in the Super Heavyweight division. With over 600 combined pounds between them, this Super Heavyweight clash is set to shake the stage. In this match, the Dumpling will look to retain his title as he surges towards the longest title reign in the division’s brief history. To do so, he will take on the brother of his former challenger, Da Hawaiian Hitman.
While this match is set to be fun, like most Super Heavyweight matches, there is a good chance this one could go all 5 rounds. Both men provide ample power in their attacks, but their chins have held up repeatedly over time. Before his last match, Da Hawaiian Hitman had lost two in a row. In a matchup with Denis Vildanov, he got back in the win column with a highlight-reel knockout in the second round.
For the Dumpling, he squared off with Da Crazy Hawaiian twice. The first matchup was a controversial draw, while the second matchup was a clear unanimous decision. The Dumpling is only getting better, having improved his accuracy and timing with every outing. As the most experienced slap fighter on this card, he cannot be overlooked despite his short stature. At 2-0-1 in the Power Slap promotion, the Dumpling is getting close to wiping out the Super Heavyweight division in swift fashion.
Prediction: Dumpling by Unanimous Decision
Power Slap Light Heavyweight Championship
“Wolverine” Ron Bata (c) vs. Russell “Kainoa” Rivero
In the co-main event of the 13th Power Slap event, the return of Wolverine occurs after a brief retirement. True to his signature style, the legend will return wearing cowboy boots on stage. He will be taking on a massive Hawaiian hitter in Rivero. Wolverine is the first and currently only multi-division champion and has ruled over the Light Heavyweight division since he arrived from Heavyweight. This match will be against his hardest-hitting opponent to date. Having defended his belt 3 times, the champion will be looking for his 4th defense in this division.
Rivero, his opponent, is one of the promotion’s most dangerous strikers. After showcasing incredible power and equally risky technique in the inaugural season of the reality show “Road to the Title”, Rivero has a 4-match unbeaten streak with 3 knockouts, including a 3rd-round KO of former Middleweight Champion Isaiah Quinones. The biggest flaw with Rivero is his technique, but he has shown significant improvement in recent performances, and this could be his biggest win to date.
Both men will be on high alert for the power threat coming back at them. Wolverine’s experience is undeniable, but Rivero’s youth and raw power present a serious threat to his reign. This match should be fireworks. Whoever wins has a massive test coming from Luke Simonds, a bodybuilder who has surged up the division rankings.
Prediction: Rivero by first round KO
Power Slap Welterweight Championship
Anthony “Babyface” Blackburn (C) vs. Azael “El Perro” Rodriguez
The new (baby)face of the Welterweight division returns after 2 close victories over former champion Emmanuel Muniz. In his previous matches, he featured a slap that had zip on it, but his matchups with the champion showcased his heart and toughness. With an undefeated record, Blackburn returns to the Slap Stage once again, ready to defend his belt.
In this matchup, he will face off against a Power Slap OG in Azael Rodriguez. El Perro was a long-time contender in the Middleweight division. After back-to-back wins over high-level competitors, Rodriguez is looking to establish himself at Welterweight. Earning a title shot is a massive opportunity, but expect him to carry some extra size and power in this new weight class.
Notably, both fighters wear damage on their faces, so this could be a grueling matchup. With both men being warriors, expect a match of the night contender here in the third-to-last fight of the night. If Rodriguez can make weight without issue, the additional size could pay dividends. Blackburn has faced stiff competition but has yet to be shut down. This is the match to watch.
Prediction: Rodriguez by Unanimous Decision
Power Slap 13 Quick Pick Predictions:
- Dumpling via Unanimous Decision
- Russell Rivero via KO
- Azael Rodriguez via Unanimous Decision
- Emmanuel Muniz via KO
- Alan Klingbeil via KO
Stay tuned to The Scrap as more matchups are announced!
