Wednesday Night Wars: AEW Dynamite Week 17 Review
This week’s edition of Dynamite was celebrated on the Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea Part Deux.
The crowd was amazing throughout the entire show. Overall, this was a fun episode of Dynamite. The new setting of wresting on a cruise was really cool and gave it an interesting look.
Matches & Segments
Kenny Omega and Hangman Page defeated SCU to become the new AEW Tag Team Champions. This match was excellent and had great pieces of storytelling coming from the team of Omega and Page. After the match, The Young Bucks came out to celebrate with the new tag champs.
Britt Baker defeated Priscilla Kelly. This match was good and served as Kelly’s AEW singles debut. After the match, Baker made a promo and turned heel. This promo was a not that good, but it’s the right direction for Baker.
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz) w/ Jake Hager defeated Jurassic Express. This bout was really fun with great action and some funny moments coming from Marko Stunt and Ortiz.
MJF defeated Joey Janela with the help of Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. This match was a good TV match and both men looked great during the match. After the match MJF and Cody had a back and forth promo. The Young Bucks appeared out of nowhere to superkick MJf and throw him off to a close pool.
Kenny Omega and Hangman Page had a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone. Both men discussed their recent victory. The Young Bucks appeared to congratulate the new champions. After some interesting words from Page, this interview ended. AEW during his segment was hinting on the possibility of Omega and Page facing The Young Bucks down the line.
In the main event of the show, Jon Moxley defeated PAC in a very physical match. PAC during the match targeted the eye of Moxely which was a great plot device for this bout. The current AEW Champion, Chris Jericho, was on commentary and did a really good job in the booth.
Rating
Another great episode of AEW Dynamite, everything was simple and there were a lot of hints to future storylines, especially with Omega and Page facing The Young Bucks.
The match of the night was the opener between SCU and Hangman and Omega. The only negative of the show was Britt Baker’s after-match promo, but she did have some funny lines when turning heel.
