What should WWE do with their recent NXT main roster call-ups?

Read Time:4 Minute, 27 Second

WWE gets us so excited when we see guys and ladies come up from NXT. NXT is one of the hottest shows that WWE has going right now. It is set in small venue, so the fans are part of the show and the wrestling is top notch. Most of the stars of NXT are known wrestlers from other organizations that aspire to be on Raw and SmackDown aka the big leagues.

Recently, the WWE has called up a few stars from NXT to the join the main roster. Stars called up included Lacey Evans, the tag team of Heavy Machinery, Ricochet, Nikki Cross, Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Now the question is what should the WWE do with them?

Let’s start Tommaso Ciampa.

Unfortunately he was injured shortly after his call up and the injury required surgery. When Ciampa comes back he should rejoin NXT and try to reclaim the NXT Championship belt and then be reintroduced to the main roster at the Royal Rumble.

With Ciampa out with injury, his former tag team partner Johnny Gargano, is now tasked with remaining in NXT to carry the torch. Gargano is scheduled to meet Adam Cole for the NXT championship at NXT TakeOver: New York. I am predicting that Gargano wins that match and becomes the champ. With that being said, he and Ciampa will bring back to life the greatest rivalry in NXT history upon Ciampa’s return.

The thing about bringing in new performers you must put them in a meaningful feud at the start to get the fans involved and to allow the WWE universe to grow with them. This should be easy to do with tag teams but the WWE, specifically Vince McMahon, don’t know how to handle tag teams. My idea would be have them wrestle the B-Team, win and then get jumped by AoP (Authors of Pain). Why AoP? They are a heel team that has been off TV for awhile now and you can help build both teams through this feud, hopefully adding some spice to a stagnant tag team division on Raw.

The Southern Belle, Lacey Evans will be a great addition to SmackDown.

I think she will end up on Raw with Ronda Rousey taking some time off (this could change if Shayna Baszler is called up). Lacey should jump into a feud with Alexa Bliss. This would be good for Bliss as she is coming off injury and would make a her a baby face. This helps Lacey become creditable because she would be feuding with a former champion who could carry her in matches if need be. If Lacey were to go SmackDown I would have her featured against Naomi. Naomi is a vet that knows her way around the ring and also has some championship pedigree about her as well. These feuds would help Lacey build a storyline and establish her character.

Nikki Cross is a little harder to figure out as she was once the valet for sAnity.

Sanity is a heel faction, but she seems to straddle the fence as a heel and a baby face. For the spirit of competition, have something fluky happen with her and Asuka during the battle royal at WrestleMania. Build on that during the SmackDown after Mania. Asuka is an amazing talent that the WWE doesn’t seem to know how to showcase. Use Asuka’s aggressive/energetic style to counteract the hyperbolic and unpredictable Nikki Cross. This should make for good TV and some very fast paced matches.

That brings us to Ricochet and Aleister Black.

I am grouping them together only because the WWE seems to have them taking the tag team route even though they were singles competitors in NXT (stay with me till the end). The best way to bring them into the main roster spotlight is to have them challenge the Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team belts. The Usos are a well decorated team that could match speed and style with Ricochet and Black. If they were to win the belts you can match them up against The Bar, Sanity or Rusev/Nakamura. My spin to this would be have them drop the belts to a team and then have Ricochet turn on Black. This would branch them out as singles competitors and possibly launch a feud that wrestling fans would love.

It’s hard to bring in new talent, especially if you don’t have a game plan. The plan should always be to put them in a feud that would showcase their talent and make the WWE universe want to see more. As a side note, when you bring up performers from NXT you may have to cut bait with some of your older stars to make room for your future super stars.

Also, the writers of Raw and SmackDown should consult with Triple H as he is more familiar with them and understands their strengths and weaknesses as he oversees NXT. There should be a sense of excitement when new talent is infused and introduced to the fans of WWE. Confusion should be far from our minds as we see the direction in which new talent is used.
