Get to know the competitors of The Ultimate Writer: Season 5

Read Time:6 Minute, 0 Second

The Scrap recently decided to bring back The Ultimate Writer one last time this year.

If you didn’t know, TUW is a competition for The Scrap’s staff. This year will feature every content creator that works for the site in a competition of article views. The first round of the new season begins August 1st and the winners will be determined weekly when highest article views go head-to-head to determine The Ultimate Writer (unless otherwise specified).

Season 5 of TUW will feature our first-ever season of Survivor.

The Scrap’s content creators will go head-to-head to not only see who will be crowned the fifth-ever Ultimate Writer, but also who will remain on the site’s staff. The first round will feature a Battle Royale to determine the season’s rankings and bracket. All content creators this season will be competing for a $150 cash prize and a UFC or WWE NFT.

Shawn Bitter (USA, 3-3)

Shawn Bitter has been one of the best additions to The Scrap since we’ve opened. He’s an expert on the regional MMA scene and has some of the best pieces in MMA media today. Last season, he had a strong showing. Now that this is a solo season, we expect Shawn to go all the way and potentially claim the title of The Ultimate Writer. Make sure you tune in to see if he can get it done this season…

Austin Luff (Canada, 7-10)

Though his record doesn’t reflect it, Austin Luff could be a front runner this season. Not only has he been in every The Ultimate Writer ever, he has a newly built audience from TikTok that has seemed to carry over to The Scrap. Austin is one of few video content producers on Season 5. Last season we had our first YouTuber winner, let’s see if Austin can continue the momentum.

Chris Presnell (USA, 0-0)

One of two newbies this season, Chris Presnell is one to keep an eye on. He has massive potential to build a loyal following on The Scrap with his articles and reels on Instagram. If he brings a mixture of both to the competition, he could go very far in his rookie season. We’re super excited to see what Chris brings to the table as a newbie to the site, because our expectations are high…

Dylan Bowker (Canada, 0-3)

Dylan Bowker may not have had an ideal rookie TUW season, but he has the chance to redeem himself in Season 5. Now that he can count on himself, it’ll be interesting to see how he does. Bowker is one of many writers that brings both MMA and pro wrestling content to The Scrap. We hope to see more of both, including interviews and potentially him utilizing the site’s YouTube channel to his advantage.

Sergio Vicente (USA, 3-2)

Our main main Serg makes his TUW return after a fairly successful rookie season. This time out, he gets to showcase what he brings to the table aside from his enthusiastic self. The host of The Royal Rundown on the site’s YouTube channel, and our Dana White’s Contender Series Breakdowns, he has potential to go all the way this season. We’re excited to see what he does and if any new YouTube shows debut soon…

Katie Vega (USA, 14-3)

The only 2x TUW winner (and last season’s champion) makes her return in attempts to win the competition back-to-back. Katie Vega has been an absolute staple here at The Scrap since winning her first season a few years ago. Not only is she consistent, she writes some of the most interesting article the site has seen since its inception. She could absolutely win it all again, so the competition better not take her lightly.

Steven Rae (UK, 1-1)

Steven Rae is finally back and we can’t contain our excitement! Not only has he been one of the strongest writers on The Scrap, he has some of the best pieces ever written for the site. His time last season was short, so we expect for you to get all of Steven this go around. Once he starts to get consistent again, it could be a wrap for these other content creators. Steven is one of the best in the game…

Dre Parsons (USA, 0-0)

The second half of The Royal Rundown makes her TUW debut this season, and we are so damn excited about it. New to The Scrap as well, Dre has all the potential in the world to win the competition. She’s charismatic, has some of the best hot takes in pro wrestling, and loves pro wrestling more than most. Make sure you tune into to see how she does in her first season!

Juan Reneo (Spain, 7-10)

The Darkhorse in the competition this season is definitely Juan Reneo. Not only does he have one of the best Twitter accounts in the game, he writes some of the best pro wrestling content on The Scrap. His record may not properly reflect all of his growth, but he truly could win it all this season. We’ve seen Juan go from new writer to verified on Twitter. He’s an encyclopedia of pro wrestling knowledge that the world is slowly finding out about…

Lewis Simpson (UK, 3-3)

We’ve been super excited since Lewis Simpson joined The Scrap last season. He was one of the standouts and continues to be one amongst the staff today. With a few more months under his belt and the loyal following he’s already built, he could very well be the next Ultimate Writer we crown this season. Make sure to keep an eye on him, he always has read-worthy articles for the site’s viewers.

Lee Brown (USA, 3-14)

One of the most loyal to the Scrap fam is without a doubt Lee Brown. He’s always been consistent and enthusiastic about his work. Lee has also been with The Scrap since the very beginning, so he’ll always hold a special place at the site. We’re hoping this is the season that Lee gets to shine and potentially get some wins on his record.

Greg Matthews (USA, 0-4)

One of The Scrap’s OG writers makes his return to the site and The Ultimate Writer. Could he get his first win this season? We think it’s very possible. Matthews has been away from the site for a while, so we hope that the fire has been re-lit and he gets back to providing great pro wrestling content. The time is now to prove his worth, so make sure you tune in this season!

Who will be crowned the next Ultimate Writer? Tune in every week to find out…
