WrestleMania 35 Remixed: A few tweaks & changes would make the card even better

Read Time:5 Minute, 6 Second

Looking ahead towards WrestleMania tonight, I’d probably say I’m very excited for 6 matches. Whilst that’s not too many on a 16-match card, I still think the rest of the card has a lot to offer. Here’s a few booking decisions that I would have changed to the build up of WrestleMania 35.

Kurt Angle vs. Baron Corbin

This seems like one of the weirdest booking decisions on this year’s card, especially given that it’s Kurt’s last match ever. If they had been using Dean Ambrose on this card, I would have loved to put him with the Hall of Famer on the biggest show of the year in a career vs contract match. I still don’t believe that Ambrose is leaving, so he of course would go over.

There has been a lot of speculation about John Cena’s involvement this weekend, with Kurt Angle himself saying that he will have a match, just not with him. That said, I think it’s a swerve. I believe Kurt Angle will tapout Baron Corbin in a matter of seconds, causing Cena to come out and challenge Kurt one more time. John Cena’s first televised match was against Kurt Angle all those years ago, the story writes itself.

Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship

One of my biggest gripes with this card is the lack of a multi-man ladder match. I think it’s a really useful way to split up a card and add a bit of overbooked chaos for the fans to go wild at. It’s a nice separation during a very long card. With Rey possibly injured after Monday Night, it makes a lot of sense to have a few guys step in to challenge Samoa Joe for his title. The match that I would go for would be Ali, Kevin Owens, Andrade, R-Truth, Shelton Benjamin and Samoa Joe in a ladder match, with Rey Mysterio added if he was cleared, that would be amazing to watch and a great way to hype the crowd going into the last 2 hours or so of the event.

The Boss ‘N Hug Connection vs. Divas of Doom vs. The IIconics vs. Nia Jax & Tamina for the Women’s Tag Team Championships

This is one of the biggest mistakes by WWE on this card, in my eyes. I have no idea why they didn’t invite Trish Stratus and Lita back to face Sasha and Bayley for the titles. I do love them bringing back Beth Phoenix, I think it’s a really cool move. But, it would be a dream come true for the champions to face Trish and Lita at WrestleMania of all places, and we know they could still definitely go again in the ring. I really believe they dropped the ball on this one.

The Usos vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. The Bar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Another missed opportunity in my eyes going into tonight, is not having the Hardys in a featured match. There were rumours before that the Jeff and Matt would face off against The Usos at WrestleMania, which a lot of people were hyped for, but changed that to go ahead with this match for some very weird reason. I get that Ricochet and Aleister Black have to be on the card, but they have been booked really weirdly this week going for 3 different title belts. For me, I see little reason to have them in this match instead of The Hardys. Looking at their booking, might be better for them to face The Revival.

The Revival vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder for the Raw Tag Team Championships

This kind of links in with the last one. I would have put Aleister Black and Ricochet in this match instead of Hawkins and Ryder. There has been zero build to put Hawkins and Ryder in this match, literally nothing. The only rough build up The Revival got was a title match against Ricochet and Black where they kind of teased towards a WrestleMania match, but no, that would make too much sense for WWE’s booking team. Hawkins and Ryder should be in the Battle Royal again this year.

Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte for both Raw & SmackDown Women’s Championships

A lot of people still are annoyed the Charlotte has been shoehorned into the main event, but I don’t mind it at all. I think she really deserves it looking at her accomplishments. What baffles me however, is putting the SmackDown Championship on her and making her defend it as well in this match. Unifying the championship would be such a shame looking at the amount of female talent there is in the company right now. I would have had her remain title-less going into tonight and have the main event just for Rousey’s belt. That could have lead Asuka to defend her Championship in the Battle Royal.

With all of my tweaks, this would be my card for WrestleMania 35:

  • Andre the Giant memorial Battle Royal
  • Women’s Battle Royal for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
  • Buddy Murphy vs. Tony Nese for the Cruiserweight Championship
  • The Revival vs. Aleister Black & Ricochet for the Raw Tag Team Titles
  • The Usos vs. The Hardys for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles
  • Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Trish Stratus & Lita for the Women’s Tag Team Championships
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship
  • Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Samoa Joe vs. Ali vs. Kevin Owens vs. R-Truth vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade for the United States Championship
  • AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
  • Kurt Angle vs. Dean Ambrose in a Career vs Contract match
  • Shane McMahon vs. The Miz in a Falls Count Anywhere match
  • Triple H vs. Batista in a No Holds Barred match
  • Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship
  • Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship
  • Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship
