Your guide to TUW 24: Els vs. Rae

Read Time:2 Minute, 1 Second

The second round of The Ultimate Writer Season 5 is officially underway! And we’re officially in double elimination mode… TUW 24 will feature our true first-round matchups and determine who will join the winner’s and loser’s brackets.

If you don’t already know, The Ultimate Writer is a competition that features 12 of the best combat sports content creators around the world in a competition where article views matter. Winners this season are determined weekly and for this second round, each contestant’s highest viewed article will to head-to-head to determine the week’s winner.

The Scrap staff participating in TUW Season 5 will be competing for the grand prize of $150 and their choice of a WWE or UFC NFT (Non-Fungible Token).

Creators to Watch

Though the competition is just getting started, there are quite a few creators to watch closely this round. Will Joey Els continue to dominate? Will Austin Luff‘s views remain consistent after his best TUW showing in five seasons? Will Steven Rae bounce back strong? Will Shawn Bitter and/or Lewis Simpson rise to the occasion?

This first official bracket matchups are really going to set the precedence for the rest of the season. So don’t forget to tune in next Monday to see how the matchups played out.

Matchups to Watch

This season is without a doubt the most stacked season of TUW we’ve ever had. Because of that, the bracket has played out to be extremely interesting… In our main event, we have Joey Els vs. Steven Rae. Though the numbers Steven put forward last round were small, do not count him out of the competition just yet. He’s still a front runner to win it all, and this is an interesting matchup with the powerhouse, Joey.

Unfortunately Katie Vega vs. Dre Parsons is happening this next round, but it certainly is a phenomenal matchup that could go either way. Only one woman will go on to the winner’s bracket, but who will it be? Lastly, Chris Presnell vs. Juan Reneo is going to be a fun one… Chris may be a TUW rookie, but he started off with a bang and has the potential to win it all. Same goes for our veteran, Juan. He’s the most consistent at The Scrap, so this matchup has the making to be the most closely contested this round.

Below is the official bracket for this season:
