Dan Ige vs. Max Holloway

4 BMF Title Fights That Need To Happen

Read Time:4 Minute, 6 Second

The BMF title was never intended to be defended regularly. But when UFC 300 needed a blockbuster fight, Dana White turned to Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje to deliver. A fight truly deserving of the belt. While Dana has been hesitant to make the BMF title a recurring feature, it’s a spectacle that deserves to live on—especially now that the UFC and WWE are united under the TKO banner.

It isn’t just a championship; it’s pure sports entertainment, meant for only the most electrifying fighters and matchups. With that in mind, we’ve imagined a few potential BMF showdowns that could bring this iconic title back into the spotlight in the future.

Max Holloway vs. Dan Ige

After Dan Ige stepped up on mere hours’ notice to save UFC 303, he earned far more than his nickname, “50k,” suggests—he deserves a reward befitting his warrior spirit. What better opportunity than to book him against Max Holloway for the BMF title? Holloway, who has already fought for and won the belt, has yet to officially defend it. Though they are good friends, both fighters are coming off losses. Ige has mentioned that he had no interest in fighting a friend. But, fighting friends for a belt would be a different. Regardless, Holloway and Ige remain two of the UFC’s most reliable showmen, consistently delivering high-octane, memorable battles.

A clash between these two Hawaiian icons promises to be more than a fight—it would be a spectacle celebrating their shared heritage and fighting ethos. Whether at featherweight, lightweight, or even catchweight, Ige and Holloway would rise to the occasion. They understand the assignment that comes with the BMF title. With their unrelenting pace, iron wills, and the unmistakable Hawaiian fighting spirit, this has all the makings of a historic battle. It’s a fight for pride, legacy, and the right to call themselves the Baddest Motherf***er in the game.

Patricio Pitbull vs. Michael Chandler 2

Patricio Pitbull is eager to get back in the cage. He’s been vocal on social media, calling out the PFL for keeping him inactive despite his readiness to fight. While it would be unwise for the PFL to release an active titleholder of Pitbull’s caliber, if they did, seeing him don UFC-branded shorts would feel more than deserved. A move to the UFC would inject new energy into the stacked lightweight division. It would offer fresh matchups, and the chance for Pitbull to test himself on MMA’s biggest stage. He’s accomplished everything there is in Bellator, so why not take the leap?

Michael Chandler, a man Pitbull defeated, found success in the UFC. A rematch between them—especially if the BMF title becomes vacant—would be electric under the sport’s brightest lights. The bad blood between them only adds to the intrigue, and you can bet Chandler would want to avenge that loss.

Here’s hoping the MMA gods grant us seeing Bellator’s champ-champ in the UFC this year.

BMF Championship

Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal

Conor McGregor needs a fight to reignite his career. Jorge Masvidal has said he wants to make a comeback. The amount of charisma, skill, and showmanship between them creates a golden opportunity for the UFC to make magic. Matching the Irish superstar against the original BMF champion would be a dream fight.

The BMF belt was made for fighters like McGregor, whose brash persona and fighting style embody the swagger it represents. Masvidal, a fan favorite with undeniable star power, provides McGregor with a new and credible opponent that keeps him relevant. Both fighters are returning from inactivity—McGregor recovering from a devastating injury and Masvidal stepping back into the spotlight after taking time away from the cage. Thus, setting up a narrative of redemption and proving their worth once more. Adding the BMF title into the equation not only elevates the stakes to something worthy of a PPV main event, but also avoids a cluttered title picture. It’s a fight that sells itself.

Angela Hill vs. Jessica Andrade 2

Angela Hill is always ready to fight anyone, anytime. A true BMF. While the title has yet to debut in the women’s division, Jessica Andrade has previously campaigned for its introduction. There’s no better opponent for Andrade than the woman who pushed her to the limit in a razor-close fight back in 2017.

Fresh off notching the first submission win of her career at UFC Fight Night 241, Hill called for a rematch with Andrade—seven years in the making. Their first fight was a barnburner, and the second promises to deliver just as much action. This matchup is one of the few in the women’s division truly deserving of a BMF title fight. Andrade seems to agree, naming both Hill and Joanna Jedrzejczyk as worthy opponents for the inaugural women’s BMF championship.
