Cody Rhodes & CM Punk

4 Storylines That Could Heat Up After The 2025 Royal Rumble

Read Time:3 Minute, 49 Second

Can you believe it’s already WrestleMania season again? What’s better than celebrating with speculating what’s to come? Once that Royal Rumble smoke clears, your favorite stories are bound to take shape. Let’s dive into some of the storylines that could take place following the 2025 Royal Rumble.

WrestleMania 41 Main Event

CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes

Last year, Cody Rhodes punched his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania by winning the Royal Rumble match. CM Punk had to miss out. Rhodes would complete his story of winning the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 40. CM Punk was injured during the Rumble and saw his dream of main-eventing WrestleMania go bye-bye.

Punk is healthy going into the Rumble on Saturday and he has his eyes set on WrestleMania. On the Raw before the Rumble, Cody Rhodes and CM Pun had a serious exchange. It has set the stage for a potential WrestleMania showdown in Las Vegas. The WWE Universe is eagerly anticipating how this rivalry will unfold. It will be tough on fans as both are fan favorites. But will CM Punk call in his favor from Paul Heyman? If Rhodes loses, it may be time to have a shift in character…

Sami Zayn Heel Turn?

Sami Zayn as a heel just doesn’t sound right. Zayn is a true fan-favorite, and is often viewed as an underdog. And everybody loves the underdog. The former Intercontinental Champion has been riding the struggle bus while trying to gain some steam going into the Rumble. The last two weeks have seen Zayn Helluva Kick Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Sami has faced severe criticism since he reunited with The Bloodline to take down Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline. Aside from the criticism, he has not earned any significant single’s wins.

Kevin Owens, Zayn’s best friend, recently pointed out Zayn’s struggles. KO said they would have the chance to main event WrestleMania together if Sami won the Royal Rumble since he was going to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. Does Sami help KO win the title and then KO returns the favor by helping Sami win the Rumble? Sami Zayn is at a crossroad in his career right now. So maybe dawning the El Generico mask could help him embrace his dark side.

Randy Orton Turns On Cody Rhodes

Unfortunately for Randy Orton, being a friend to Cody Rhodes can have some serious consequences. The 14x world champion became collateral damage in an ongoing feud between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. On the November 8th SmackDown, Owens nailed Orton with a banned piledriver move, leaving him out of action since. Kevin Owens felt betrayed that Cody would team with Roman Reigns, thus leading to an attack on Cody’s longtime mentor. Despite not acting on it like KO, you have to believe that Orton was also not too fond of that brief partnership between Rhodes and Reigns. Don’t forget, it was Roman’s Bloodline that put Randy on the shelf, almost permanently. If the two stars never teamed up, Randy wouldn’t have suffered the cervical cord neurapraxia.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So, I’m afraid Cody’s actions may have triggered the voices in Randy’s head. Ever since Rhodes captured the WWE title at WrestleMania, Orton has not been able to take his eyes off of the belt. Assuming he gets revenge on Kevin Owens, a feud between the teacher and student will follow shortly after. Could it begin with a record-tying third Rumble victory for Randy Orton?

Jacob Fatu as The New Head of The Bloodline?

In light of Solo Sikoa’s disappearance from WWE television, Jacob Fatu has emerged as the true alpha male within what’s left of the new Bloodline. The way things are lining up, “The Samoan Werewolf” could be the next man up as head of the faction. From the moment Solo departed, Fatu has literally picked up the microphone and ran with it. His vocal presence is now starting to catch up with his physical attributes as the push is fully underway.

WWE will likely use Sikoa’s hiatus as an audition for Jacob Fatu to show what he can do. He could very well form a new Bloodline of his own, and slowly lay waste to anyone claiming the title of “Tribal Chief”: Solo Sikoa, Roman Reigns, and even The Rock. Following his mauling of Braun Strowman at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the path of destruction will continue into WrestleMania season.
